ProofOfID
ProofOfID is a finalist for Best Open Banking Infrastructure 2026. See how our trust layer verifies customers in 20 seconds and records their consent.

Open Banking Expo has shortlisted ProofOfID for Best Open Banking Infrastructure: Platform Providers at the Open Banking Expo Awards 2026. The nomination covers our work on trust infrastructure for Open Banking: a layer that links verified identity, customer consent and secure data sharing, and keeps checking that trust long after onboarding.
You can meet our team at Open Banking Expo UK & Europe, 13–14 October in London, in the Barclays Innovation Zone. Before you visit, you might want to know what problem we solve and how the product works in a live customer call.
Open Banking Expo Awards 2026 shortlist
Most banks verify a customer once. The customer uploads documents, the compliance team runs KYC, and the account opens. From that point the bank assumes the person on the other end of every call and login is the same person it verified.
Fraudsters exploit that assumption. They steal credentials, take over accounts, and use generative AI to clone voices and fake video. Meanwhile customers move house and change phone numbers, so your records drift out of date. By the time your fraud team spots a takeover, the money has often left.
ProofOfID replaces the single checkpoint with continuous identity verification. We re-confirm the customer at the moments that carry risk: a support call, a data-sharing request, a change to account details.
‍
Picture a customer who phones their bank about an Open Banking connection. Before the agent discusses the account or shares any data, the bank needs two answers. Is this the real customer? And did the customer authorise this request?
Today the agent reads through a script of security questions. The call takes several minutes, and a fraudster holding leaked personal data or a cloned voice can still get through. AI-enabled impersonators find knowledge-based checks easy to beat.
With ProofOfID, the call runs like this:
The exchange takes around 20 seconds. Your agents stop spending minutes on security questions, your customers skip the interrogation, and your compliance team holds a consent record for each piece of data shared.
Open Banking gave consumers control of their financial data and let that data move between authorised providers. As more firms join the ecosystem, the trust model underneath carries more weight. Banks need confidence the person is genuine. Customers want to see who is asking for their data and what that firm plans to do with it.
We build ProofOfID on four principles:
Under this model, customers take part in the exchange of their own identity data instead of watching firms pass it between themselves.
AI now does more than analyse data in the background. Agents can talk to customers, complete forms and start transactions on someone's behalf. Your fraud and compliance teams will soon face questions like these:
Our product team is adding capabilities to the ProofOfID platform that flag AI-driven and fraudulent behaviour and tie each action back to a verified human and a recorded consent.
Banks have long run identity verification, cybersecurity, fraud prevention, privacy and data sharing as separate programmes with separate owners. Open Banking and AI push those programmes together. Financial data moving between firms needs a verified identity attached. A customer granting access to sensitive information needs a consent record. A compromised account needs fresh verification, and an AI agent acting for a customer needs a traceable link back to that person.
We expect digital identity to move out of the onboarding team and into core financial infrastructure. ProofOfID sits between the connectivity Open Banking provides and the automation AI brings, confirming the human behind each digital interaction and capturing their consent to share identity and personal data.
Come to the Barclays Innovation Zone on 13 or 14 October in London. Our team will run the 20-second verification flow live and talk through how it fits alongside your current Open Banking and KYC stack.
You can also read Open Banking Expo's feature on our approach.
ProofOfID works alongside your onboarding checks and extends verification to later moments of risk, such as support calls, data-sharing requests and account changes.
A typical customer-service verification takes around 20 seconds, compared with several minutes for scripted security questions.
Yes. The customer approves each share of verified information, and ProofOfID keeps a record of that consent.
Our platform replaces knowledge-based questions, which AI impersonators can beat, with device-based identity confirmation. We are also building capabilities to flag AI-driven and fraudulent behaviour.
